GriefShare – An Educational Support Program
If you are actively grieving the death of a significant person in your life, including the death of a spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, or friend, we would strongly encourage you to consider attending the 13-week GriefShare educational support group offered at Mt. Bethel this fall and winter. It will be held weekly beginning on Wednesday evening, October 2, 2019, from 6:30 to 8:15pm in room B116. Do plan to come and check it out! It is designed to support and assist you on your grief journey. The program is open to anyone from the community who wants to attend as well as all who attend Mt. Bethel. You can come to as many meetings as you can make or all of them if you are able. For further information, contact Rev. Glenn Ray or Rev. Kim McGarr.
The facilitators were both widowed at mid-life and have also experienced the death of parents, grandparents, siblings, and close friends. In addition to the experiential piece, they also have expertise in their professions. Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge is a licensed clinical psychologist and R.N., and Dr. Bob DeVries is a pastor and seminary professor emeritus. Together they have co-authored four books on aspects of grieving and one book on living fully after preparing for one’s own death. They also appear in a number of the GriefShare DVD sessions as grief experts.
Additionally, Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge is available between October 3, 2019, and March 26, 2020, on Thursdays from 8am to 8pm to provide grief, loss, and dying psychotherapy including other individual and family related concerns you might have. Her services are available to anyone from the community as well as Mt. Bethel church members. You can schedule an appointment or get more information by calling Susan at 616.780.1082.
At the conclusion of this program, please join us for Navigating the Journey through Grief, a seven-week workshop beginning February 5.
