Faith Milestone: The Lord’s Prayer
Marking children’s physical “firsts,” such as first steps and first words, is an exciting and memorable part of parenting. Just as important, and just as worthy of celebration, are spiritual firsts, or faith milestones.
These milestones, or rites, help children know they’re growing up as Christians and continually reconnecting to their faith family. Milestones also allow Mt. Bethel UMC and parents to partner together to rise up lifelong followers of Jesus.
On Sunday, February 2, we are inviting all first graders to lead the congregation in the Lord’s Prayer during our 11am services, first in the Sanctuary and then in the Gathering. Please register if you are planning for your child to participate so we can have an idea of our group size. (Registration opens December 30.)
First graders will be learning the Lord’s Prayer in KidCity and Catechesis in January. In order to prepare to recite the Lord’s Prayer, we will be learning each component of the Lord’s Prayer as a familiar and comforting way to communicate with God.
