Project 82 – Kenya Mission Trip
November 13 - 21 | Kenya
Project 82 Kenya is a group of Christians from Kenya and the United States working together with a common heart for orphans and vulnerable children. Our calling comes from Psalm 82:3, where God commands His people to “defend the fatherless.” Since 2009, we have been serving together to care for vulnerable children by nurturing them holistically to achieve sustainable family solutions.
📅 Mission Trip Dates: November 13-21
Trip Leader: Gaylyn Kelly (gaylyn.kelly@mtbethel.org)
Age Requirements: 18 and above or 15 and above with accompanying parent
What We Will Be Doing:
Come Serve, Come Explore, Come Worship! This trip is for those who enjoy travel adventures! It takes two 8-hour plane rides to get to Kenya. Once we land, Project 82 has two ministry locations that are about four hours away from each other and the airport. In country travel is done in comfortable vans and mostly well maintained roadways. Our trips are very relational with our staff, supported families and children. At our first location of House of Hope in Molo, you will play with kids, help cook and serve a Kenyan meal during our Saturday program, visit a guardian at their home and hear the story of a business owner who got their start through Project 82. We worship with the global church at African Inland Church who partners with us. Next, we travel to our second location, The Neema Infant Rescue Center, in Nanyuki. While we are here, we take care of the babies in our care so our staff can have an afternoon out. We stop at our farmland, we visit one of our foster moms houses and also a Tulee Mwana care recipient, and the Sangida Foundation – a partner in ministry. You will also be given the opportunity to go on a safari and see animals act and react in their natural habitat!
💲Trip Cost: $3200 includes airfare and ground experience. $1500 deposit required at point of registration. You will also have to register for an electronic travel authorization which has a cost of under $50. (This is much like a visa).
Food and Lodging:
🍽️ Food: All of the food is freshly made and grown locally. Lots of in-season fruits and vegetables with meat being served more as a side.
🏨 Lodging: We stay at 3 locations while on the trip:
- The Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Nairobi
- The Ukarimu Centre in Molo
- Sweetwaters Serena Camp in Nanyuki
Ground Transportation: Vans driven by our staff or hired drivers that we trust and use often. We also travel with a staff member, they are super helpful with answering questions and local information.
