What Is Alpha?
August 10, 2018
By Dr. Elaine Friedrich, Director of Digital Discipleship and Faith Formation
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over 11 weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome. We have several classes beginning this fall at both the East Cobb and North campuses of Mt. Bethel.
Here are the topics for each of the Alpha sessions:
- Is There More to Life Than This?
- Who is Jesus?
- Why Did Jesus Die?
- How Can I Have Faith?
- Why and How Do I Pray?
- Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
- How Does God Guide Us?
- Who is the Holy Spirit?
- What Does the Holy Spirit Do?
- How Can I Be Filled with the Holy Spirit?
- How Can I Make the Most of the Rest of My Life?
- How Can I Resist Evil?
- Why and How Should I Tell Others?
- Does God Heal Today?
- What About The Church?
What happens at each session?
At each session, we begin with food and fellowship. Then we watch a video based on the topic for the lesson. Following the video, we discuss, ask questions, and learn together as the Holy Spirit leads and teaches us.
Who is Alpha for?
An Alpha class would be great for anyone who wants to learn more about Christianity, has questions about their faith, or wants to learn how to share Christ with others. Here’s a short video to find out more information: https://vimeo.com/204052948
