Welcome Dr. Jody Ray

Jody RayWe are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jody G. Ray as Mt. Bethel UMC’s new Senior Pastor. Jody will succeed Dr. Randy Mickler, who is retiring after 28 years of leadership.

Jody is an Elder in the North Georgia Conference, currently serving as Senior Pastor at Stockbridge FUMC.

Jody is a second-career pastor, having worked in the financial services sector before entering the ministry in 2000. He is also the President of Project 82 Kenya, an organization that ministers to orphans in the most desperate places in Kenya.

He received a degree in finance and accounting from North Georgia College and State University, a Masters of Divinity from Gammon Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry degree at George Fox Seminary.

Jody has been married to his wife Shelley for fifteen years. They have two incredible daughters, Jennings and Carson. They also have the most adventurous son in the world, Robert.

In his free time, Jody enjoys reading, writing, fly fishing, hunting, and playing golf. On Saturdays in the fall, he can be found cheering for the Ole Miss Rebels.

Lay leader Ferrell Coppedge announced Jody’s appointment during the services on Sunday, May 1. Below is video of his announcement, which explains the extensive search process that led to Jody’s selection as the minister to lead Mt. Bethel into its next era of growth.

Jody will officially take the reins from Randy on June 26. Before then, he’ll be around as possible. Please join us in welcoming the Ray family home!
