VBS Missions Donations Making an Impact

At Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Camp 56 earlier this month, we learned that we were created by God and built for a purpose.
The body of Christ was evident not only in gathering, worshiping, and growing but also in generous donations to our Missions Partners: MUST Ministries, Project 82 Kenya, and Hope for Today in India. For Project 82, we donated 2,169 pairs of socks and underwear to help care for the needs of orphans and vulnerable children at the House of Hope in Kenya. These items will be distributed on an upcoming mission trip when our team members will set up a “store” for the kids to come and get new and necessary items.
Hope for Today will receive about $1,600, which will send over 300 children in India to VBS this summer. In a country where only about 3% of the population is Christian, VBS is one of the most impactful ministries, allowing many children to hear about Jesus for the first time. VBS has the potential to change the whole trajectory of a child’s life in India as well as the lives of their families. This year, Hope for Today plans to offer VBS programs in numerous towns across the country with the goal of reaching 20,000 children.
At Camp 56 for rising 5th and 6th graders, the kids learned that God created them uniquely and for a purpose. The children at Camp 56 and their families donated toiletry items to build 150 kits so that each child could take a kit home to leave in their car and hand out to homeless people they might encounter. Camp 56 children also made over 1,600 sandwiches for the MUST lunch program and donated three large boxes of children’s underwear for the children staying in the Elizabeth Inn through Brooke’s Nook. During one session, the Camp 56ers wrote encouraging notes for the children at the House of Hope in Molo, Kenya. (See some of their sweet notes here.)
So, thank you to the children, teens, adults, and families who so generously donated their time and resources at VBS. Your faithful response to meeting the needs of others in our city and the world is bringing glory to God!
