Chuck Newman was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida, where his father was a pastor and his mom a gifted pianist. He is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with two Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and Music. Chuck’s music education started early when at age five his parents realized he could pick out a tune on the piano just by listening to the radio. He was classically trained in piano for the next 15 years.
After a brief period working in his university degree field of business, Chuck felt the call of music. When he accompanied a friend who was auditioning for the group, Truth, he ended up getting the gig, rather than the friend auditioning. This started him on a musical and spiritual path playing keyboard and leading worship around the world.
Over the past 20 years, Chuck has accompanied various internationally known solo and group artists — from Reba McEntire to the Billy Graham Association to the Gaither Family — covering 42 countries in the process.
What’s impressed Chuck most during this journey is seeing thousands of people experience the Lord in the same way, regardless of the country, language or religious denomination. Says Chuck, “God is God, and he doesn’t change no matter the destination.”
Chuck has also recorded piano solo albums and taught at the university level. His aspirations include continuing his education with an advanced degree in choral conducting and being a part of others’ growth in music, both spiritually and personally.
Chuck brings an abundance of positive energy to the Mt. Bethel music department and those present in worship experience his rich connection to God through his music. His talents in worship provide an energy and creativity that inspires and infuses listeners with the Holy Spirit.
