Scripture: Romans 8:1-2, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin.”
Each time I read or study Scripture, something new pops out and speaks directly to me. Verses that I have read dozens of times that I think I understand will speak to me differently. Each time we read and study God’s word, He illuminates us!
Paul tells us in Romans 8:1-2, that once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior that there is no condemnation. None! Let that sink in. Once we we are born to Jesus, sin has no hold on us. We reject a sinful lifestyle. Does that mean we don’t sin? Absolutely not. When we as Christ Followers transgress, however, we are immediately made aware of our sin by the Holy Spirit. We live in the way of the Spirit, not the flesh (our sinful nature or ways of the secular world).
Paul writes later in chapter 8:5-6, “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” Paul could not have been more plain. You know the saying garbage in, garbage out. When we put away the ways of the world and fill our hearts and minds with the love of God, and when we abide in Him and allow Him to abide in us, our lives may be filled with trials and tribulations, but we receive the peace that passes all understand, and we will be joyful.
Jesus came and lived as a man, a sinless man. He took on ALL the sins of this earth – past, present, and future. He died and was resurrected by His and our heavenly Father. Remember the great old hymn by Elvina M. Hall, Jesus Paid It All? The refrain goes like this, “Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.” Jesus did pay it all for you and for me. There is no mark by your name when you are forgiven. God will not ask you about your forgiven sins when you stand before Him. Jesus paid the debt. Take the gift. It was paid at a frightful price. Lay all your sins, past and present, at the foot of the cross, and don’t ever go back and pick them up! There is no condemnation!
Read: Galatians 2:20-21
Peace and joy to you my brothers and sisters through the love and suffering of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Know there is no condemnation in Him!
