Purpose: To provide a pathway of hope by building relationships and reaching out to one of the poorest counties in the United States, McDowell County in Welch, WVA, with the love of Jesus Christ.
Activities include: preparing food and decorating for a "Ladies Night Out" supper hosted by a local church in Welch, packing food boxes that are sold in the Hope Chest which serves the community with affordable clothing and household items, delivery of sack lunches into the hollers directly to the children and outreach visits to low-income apartments to meet residents and share the word of God and prayer. When the weather is nice, we accompany a local church pastor who sets up a tent and chairs and ministers to his community through his music. In November, we sponsor a special "Thanksgiving Blessing" in November when boxes full of food for a complete Thanksgiving meal are distributed by the team to the community.
Do you know anyone moving? Ask them to consider donating clothing, bedding, kitchen, and other household items to the Hands of Hope donation trailer near the CAC.
