Opportunity Knocks for Youth
Who we are…
The mission of Opportunity Knocks for Youth (OK4Youth) is to support and encourage personal growth and development of youth so that they become productive citizens. OK4Youth, Inc. provides mentoring and life skills programming to foster children and other disadvantaged youth. Opportunity Knocks for Youth provides support to teens from low-income families, foster care, and group homes. OK4Youth seeks to empower these young people to complete their education and become self-sufficient citizens.
In addition to regularly scheduled meetings and workshops, the young people in the program, along with their mentors, benefit from community interaction during purposeful field trips and service projects.
In Georgia there are more than 13,000 children in foster care and only 15% are expected to graduate from high school. OK4Youth participants had a 70% graduation since 2007, with teens having attended Georgia Southern University, Georgia Perimeter College, University of West Georgia, Kennesaw State University, and Chattahoochee Technical College.
