How Would You Choose? Who Would You Choose?

Several years ago, I heard a story about a man of very modest means who had eight children. When asked if it was hard feeding and supporting that many children, his answer was something along the lines of, “Yes, it’s very hard, but when I look around the table each night, I ask myself, ‘Which one would I give up?’”
Mt. Bethel Christian Academy is facing a very similar question right now: Which of the children who qualified for and received a scholarship through the Georgia GOAL program for the current school year will be “given up” because the funds are not sufficient enough to cover those students for the 2021-2022 school year? The Academy currently has just over $200,000 in their Georgia GOAL Scholarship account and needs more than $300,000 just to be able to assist the number of students served this year. Turning away a deserving child who seeks a Christian education in today’s world is something we can all help avoid.
One of the primary purposes of the GOAL Scholarship is to provide better educational opportunities for children who might not otherwise be able to take advantage of private and Christian school educations. If you are not already doing so, please consider supporting Georgia GOAL, an amazing program where tax dollars can be redirected to help some very qualified and deserving students attend Mt Bethel. At the Academy, children not only receive an outstanding education, but every aspect of their school experience is Christ-centered. If you ARE already participating, please share this information with family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. The investment of just a few minutes of your time will have an eternal impact!
Through their website at goalscholarship.org, you can find all the information you need to participate in the program. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it will make a difference in the life of a child.
Here are some fast facts about the program:
- All Georgia income taxpayers are eligible. That means grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, friends and co-workers can all help!
- You may contribute as little or as much as you want up to the following limits: $2,500 for a married couple filing jointly, $1,250 for married people filing separately, $1,000 for an individual filing singly. Every dollar is a huge help!
- If you own your own business (An individual who is a member of a limited liability company, shareholder of an “S” Corporation, or partner in a partnership (pass-through entities), you are allowed a Georgia income tax credit of up to $10,000.
Please help us by redirecting some of your tax dollars through GOAL to Mt. Bethel Christian Academy so that we won’t have to say, “I’m sorry, but we have to give you up; there are no more funds available.”
