The Gospel is Spreading in Hard to Reach Places! (Part 2)

Last week I sent out an email sharing about how Mt. Bethel UMC is supporting and training leaders in India and Nigeria through International Leadership Institute (check out last week’s blog). Now that the conferences are over, I wanted to send a brief update about some of the fruit we can already see in the lives of those who participated.

In Nigeria last week 31 top youth leaders from four different conferences of the UMC Nigeria were trained. These leaders have committed to train more than 220 more leaders in the next 90 day! Wow! Just as important are the visions that God laid on their hearts to make a difference for the Kingdom!

One young lady felt called to “provide learning opportunities for less privileged children in her community who can’t afford it.”

Another young man who just gradated with a degree in journalism felt called after attending the conference to “provide a model of godly journalism through accurate and honest reporting while living out his Christian faith in the society where this practice is unfamiliar.”

God is giving these young leaders visions that are transforming their lives and will make a real difference for the Kingdom of God!

In India, where Mike Denton and I were training leaders and sharing in life together, we saw an outpouring of God’s Spirit as leaders were brought to tears when Mike taught about
servant leadership and washed the feet of these humble leaders.

We were all once again brought to tears as they committed to finishing well and returned to six different regions, as far as ten hours away, where many more leaders will be trained in the next 90 days.

I can’t put into words the joy we felt as we prayed over these leaders and their country, as we knew they would be leaving with not only impactful training but with a heart of fire for God and a desire to touch lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ where so few have heard the truth! They were going out into poor villages, and urban areas of much darkness to help the needy and to share love where hope is in short supply.

This week, lives will be changed in Nigeria and India because God has empowered these leaders, and we are so thankful to God for letting us be a part of it. Please join me in prayer this week that all of the seeds that were planted in these leaders will reap a great harvest for these places that are hard to reach. Thankfully, if we are faithful and continue to be faithful, they will not be hard to reach from God’s perspective. Let’s also pray
that God will use us in even greater ways to be His hands and His feet for His glory!

See, the LORD’s hand is not too short to save, nor are his ears too dull to hear.” Isaiah 59:1
