God Moves at the Beach

Being a high school intern has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff bonded unbelievably fast, and we already seem like a family. We have been studying Ephesians throughout the summer, and God is showing us so many things. Ephesians explains how we are called and equipped by God to do great things as one body. For me, God has been showing me how prominent his voice is this summer. He is speaking not only through his word but also through speakers at Pursuit (worship night for young adults), through worship (wherever we go), and especially through relationships with students.
I was so blessed to have the opportunity to go on BeachRetreat this summer. I was excited for this trip because I was never able to go on it as a student. Beach Retreat was an incredible experience for everyone, and you could truly feel God moving throughout the week. Surfside Retreat is a beautiful place right on the beach. Holly, our speaker, was amazing, and the students seemed to love the experience. Also the worship, led by Savannah Perdue, could not have been better. The small room that we worshipped in was intimate and truly sounded like it was filled with angels. Personally, at the beginning of the summer, it was more difficult to connect with the students. However, on beach Retreat, I was able to really create bonds with a lot of them.
What really amazed me was that the students always seemed to be entertained. They were always moving and interacting with each other. From synchronized swimming to 70’s dance workout in the middle of lunch, there was something constantly going on. I thought that it was so important how much fun the students were having because when we transitioned into a time of worship, they were still all so into it. Beach Retreat was such a great experience for God to move within this ministry. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store.
