Navigating the Journey through Grief

Meets in Room B116

“Navigating the Journey Through Grief” is a seven-week educational grief support workshop open to anyone in the church or community who is grieving the death of a loved one. This opportunity to learn more about the grieving process will begin on Wednesday, February 5, and end on April 1.

Grieving can often feel overwhelming, with a myriad of emotions and challenges that sometimes can seem out of control. It can be even more difficult when well-meaning people give you unsound advice such as, “just give it time,” or ,”get back to your normal activities as soon as you can.” Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge, a licensed clinical psychologist, and Dr. Robert DeVries, a pastor and seminary professor, have developed and will lead the group based on their book Traveling Through Grief: Learning to Live Again After the Death of a Loved One. Susan and Bob also served Mt. Bethel UMC as facilitators of the GriefShare program, but you did not have to attend those sessions to come to this group.

If you would like additional information or have questions, please contact Kim McGarr or call Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge at 616.780.1082.
