Facing the Challenge: Dealing with Grief in the Upcoming Holidays
Group meets in B116
If you are grieving the death of a loved one and are beginning to wonder how you will deal with the upcoming holidays without the person who died or perhaps you are dreading the holidays and looking for a way to escape, you are invited to attend a presentation by the facilitators of our GriefShare program, Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge, licensed clinical psychologist, and Dr. Robert DeVries, pastor and seminary professor (Emeritus). They will suggest and discuss a number of ways you can plan for and manage the approaching holidays, using them as opportunities to grow without overwhelming yourself in the process.
This practical workshop is open to anyone who is actively grieving or wants to understand more about grief and the holidays. You do not need to be attending the current GriefShare meetings to participate, and please feel free to invite family and friends to attend with you. We will offer many helpful tips to help you tackle Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day in a healthy manner. Coffee, tea, water, and muffins will be served, and at the conclusion of the meeting, all will be invited to light a candle in memory of their deceased loved one. We hope that you will join us.
Registration is recommended but not required; however, childcare is available by reservation only. To reserve childcare, please call Lindsey Warren at 770.971.2588 by November 13.
