Navigating the Journey through Grief
Thursdays, 6:30-8pm, February 7 - April 4, 2019 | B116
“Navigating the Journey Through Grief” is a 7-week educational grief support workshop open to anyone in the church or community who is grieving the death of a loved one. Grieving can often feel overwhelming with a myriad of emotions and challenges that sometimes can seem out of control. It can be even more difficult when well-meaning people give you unsound advice such as, “just give it time,” or “get back to your normal activities as soon as you can.” Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge, a licensed clinical psychologist, and Dr. Robert DeVries, a pastor and seminary professor, have developed and will lead this group based on their book Traveling Through Grief: Learning to Live Again After the Death of a Loved One. Susan and Bob also served Mt. Bethel UMC as facilitators of the GriefShare program, but you did not have to attend those sessions to come to this group.
If you would like additional information or have questions, please contact Glenn Ray at 770.971.2880 or Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge at 616.780.1082. Susan is also available for individual counseling to work on specific issues related to your loss. Feel free to give her a call to discuss this option further.
