Contending for the Faith

The Current Situation

The Trustees of the North Georgia Conference, have declared that Mt. Bethel, a vibrant church currently engaged in ministry and missions around the world, is in “exigent circumstances,” a term usually reserved for churches on the brink of closure. Mt. Bethel is currently being sued in Cobb Superior Court by its denominational leadership.

Where We Stand

Simply put, Mt. Bethel is a thriving church. Mt. Bethel has had a crisis of confidence in its denominational leader, Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson. We are asking to disaffiliate so every member can express their choice through a church-wide vote. Bishop Haupert-Johnson has not given us the opportunity to vote and has retaliated against us for asking.
