Children’s Ministry Kids Learn How to “Go”

When walking through the Academy building on Sundays, you will see children gathering and growing in their faith in Jesus Christ through programs such as Sunday school, The ‘Burbs worship service, or Catechesis. Last Sunday was a little different, though, because the Children’s Ministry staff challenged the kids to not only gather and grow, but to go as well.

The basement of the Academy building became a service project headquarters for Children’s Ministry. The children made snacks for our local firemen, colored door hangers, made placemats for Meals on Wheels, and created Thanksgiving cards for our servicemen and servicewomen. The children also designed encouraging messages for Backpack Blessings. The children who attended received first-hand experience of what “go” means at Mt. Bethel.

In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” If you have not walked the halls of the Academy building on a Sunday to witness what our children are learning, or if you want to get involved in this vital part of our church, here is a list of opportunities to serve, and here is an application and background check for Children’s Ministry volunteers.
