Mt. Bethel will begin construction of our 32nd Habitat Home on September 8, 2012. Hundreds of volunteers, Road Race Sponsors and participants, Habitat supporters and benefactors will honor God’s call, coming together to share the love of Christ with our Habitat homeowner family. The Annual Habitat Road Race held each year in early October is the major fundraising arm of this ministry.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian Ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness around the world. It is the goal of Habitat to develop communities by building and renovating homes and providing those homes to qualifying families. Habitat sells the homes they build at no interest and no profit making them affordable for many low-income families. The partnership between Habitat and homeowner families is one of mutual respect and a core belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live in a safe, decent and affordable home. Habitat homeowners contribute 100 hours of sweat equity building their own home and 100 hours building homes for others. They are also required to attend “Living Smart” Homeownership Classes.

NW Metro Atlanta Habitat (formerly Cobb Habitat) is the local affiliate that we partner with to build our homes. Our sponsorship of a Habitat Home includes both the funding of the home as well as the volunteer labor to build the home. Over the years Mt Bethel has become NWMA Habitat’s leading home builder. NWMA Habitat ranks in the top 20 of Habitat International’s 2000+ affiliates and through a tithe of its undesignated income to Habitat International’s Global Ministry, NWMA Habitat has helped build over 322 homes in Uganda.
