Purpose:
kidz2leaders, inc. exists to help change the lives of prisoners’ children and to break the vicious cycle of incarceration. We help them rise above their circumstances, teach them to become leaders and provide a life of hope through Christian programming and a fun environment. The entry point into these children’s lives is a one-week summer camp – Camp Hope. Camp Hope is the start of a long and committed relationship where kidz2leaders agrees to help each child reach his or her goal. kidz2leaders’ programs reflect the year-round needs of our campers including: a Christmas party, mentoring, a summer internship program (interns4tomorrow), counselor retreats and field trips.
Camp Hope needs Christian teen, college, and adult volunteers to serve as counselors. Counselors learn how to be a “kid” again with their camper and teach their camper by actions rather than words. They serve not only as a counselor, but as a mentor, sister or brother, and friend for the whole week. Camp Hope takes place in early July each summer.
Service opportunities:
• Serve as a teen, college, or adult counselor during Camp Hope.
• Volunteer to aid in camp preparations, including making phone calls or data entry.
• Assist in making Camp Hope happen by helping with transportation or
obtaining supplies.
• Volunteer to chaperone field trips throughout the year.
• Sponsor a camper.
• Host a summer intern.
• Pray for campers, their families, and their counselors.
