Support Groups

Autism Support Group

This group is not currently meeting and is in need of someone to facilitate and plan the meetings. If you can help, contact Kim McGarr.

This group supports parents who have children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s, PDD-NOS and/or non-verbal learning disorders. Our goals are simple, yet broad: encourage one another, share information, and plan periodic activities for the children and their families. For more information, please visit asgcobb.com.

Divorce Support Recovery Group

Wednesdays | 6:30-8:30pm | H House

Divorce is one of the most heart-wrenching tragedies that a person can face. Divorce is not the end of one’s world, but it can sure seem like it.  When people go through such hardships, they need a support/recovery group where they can find acceptance, learn from each other, and have the opportunity to express their emotions in a group that understands.  Trained facilitators help those who are overwhelmed by the legalities of the divorce process, grieving the hurt of loss and rejection, and confused as to their place in life as a divorcee.  Together we help each other gain confidence and restore self esteem.

One need not be a member of Mt. Bethel to be a part of this group.  For more information, contact Kathy Feldbaum – 770-715-9423 or Mike Gilliam – 404-372-7668.

Grief Support Group

Our Grief Support Group provides the opportunity to share your loss and loneliness with others who are also grieving the loss of a loved one. Experiencing grief is proof that you are a real, live person because grief is the price you pay for having loved someone. After the death of a loved one, your family and friends must soon get back to their lives. This happens about the time the initial shock of the death wears and the realization sets in. It is after the funeral is over that the real work of grief begins. It is not a three-day process. Recovering from someone’s death can take from a few months to several years because grief is hard work. You cannot escape grief. You either deal with it or it deals with you in hurtful ways. One may never get over the loss of someone they loved, but they can learn to live with it. This is why it is important to be a party of a grief support group. We offer a concerned, caring group of people who walk together through grief. One does not have to be a member of Mt. Bethel to be a part of this group. For more information, please call Wil Parker at 678-560-2801.
