If you are going through a tough time, please let us offer you guidance and encouragement. We offer support groups as well as individual counseling services.
Shepherd Counseling Center
The Mt. Bethel Shepherd Counseling Center recognizes that people both inside and outside the church sometimes need the assistance of a mental health professional. We believe that the mission of the church goes beyond worship and teaching.
The Shepherd Center provides a Christian setting to meet the psychological needs of the greater community. Our therapists are in general practice, offering the customary range of psychological services, including individual adult psychotherapy, individual child psychotherapy, assessment and evaluation, marital therapy, family therapy, group psychotherapy, and structured psycho-educational groups.
For more information, please call the Shepherd Counseling Center at 678.571.5119.

Grief Support Group

Facilitators: Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge, a licensed clinical psychologist, and Dr. Robert DeVries, a pastor and seminary professor emeritus
“Navigating the Journey Through Grief” is a seven-week educational grief support workshop open to anyone in the church or community who is grieving the death of a loved one. Grieving can often feel overwhelming with a myriad of emotions and challenges that sometimes can seem out of control. It can be even more difficult when well-meaning people give you unsound advice such as, “just give it time,” or “get back to your normal activities as soon as you can.” Dr. Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge, a licensed clinical psychologist, and Dr. Robert DeVries, a pastor and seminary professor, have developed and will lead this group based on their book, Traveling Through Grief: Learning to Live Again After the Death of a Loved One.
If you would like additional information or have questions, you can contact Glenn Ray or Kibbie Parish at 770.971.2880 or Susan Zonnebelt-Smeenge at 616.780.1082. Susan is also available for individual counseling to work on specific issues related to your loss. Feel free to give her a call to discuss this option further.
